In February 2007, investigators published the results of the POWER 1 study, which demonstrated the safety and efficacy of darunavir in treatment-experienced patients. Now, they have published confirmatory results from POWER 2 and from a combined analysis. In both studies (individually and combined), viral loads <50 copies/mL were achieved by a significantly greater proportion of patients who received the now-approved dose of darunavir (600 mg, plus 100 mg of ritonavir, both twice daily) than of those who received comparator PIs:
-- POWER 1 results at 24 weeks: 53% vs. 18%
-- POWER 2 results at 24 weeks: 39% vs. 7%
-- POWER 1 and 2 results at 48 weeks: 45% vs. 10%
