In patients with hepatitis C virus (HCV) monoinfection, a rapid virologic response (RVR) to HCV treatment increases the likelihood of a sustained virologic response (SVR) 6 months after completion of therapy. Although preliminary data suggest that RVR might also predict SVR in HIV-coinfected patients (ACC Jul 9 2007), definitive data from prospective trials are lacking.
In the present (retrospective) study, investigators reviewed data from 258 HIV/HCV-coinfected patients in Spain who received pegylated interferon and ribavirin.
