Clinicians and patients commonly ask about the risk for viral rebound once a person has achieved full suppression of HIV replication. Currently, most of the information available on this topic derives from analysis of breakthrough rates for suppressed patients on their first regimen. Now, using data from the United Kingdom Collaborative HIV Cohort study, researchers have compared rebound rates for suppressed patients with and without a history of treatment failure.
