Syphilis Cases Increasing in NYC

A total of 260 syphilis cases were diagnosed in New York City during the first quarter of this year — more than twice the number diagnosed during the first quarter of 2006. Of particular concern is the increase seen among women (10 cases in early 2007, compared with almost none during the previous decade).
