Perhaps not, but the details of this study make its relevance in many practice settings uncertain.

Some experts argue that PI-based antiretroviral regimens lead to greater CD4-cell increases than do other combinations. Support for this argument comes in part from ACTG 5142, in which patients treated with lopinavir/ritonavir gained significantly more CD4 cells during a 48-week period than did those treated with efavirenz, even though the efavirenz group had a higher rate of virologic response (JW Infect Dis May 14 2008).
