Although the incidence of AIDS-related lymphoma has decreased substantially since the development of effective combination antiretroviral therapy (ART), cases still occur even in treated patients, and the lymphomas remain prominent causes of AIDS-related mortality. Repeatedly identified predictors of lymphoma include both nadir and current CD4-cell counts, but considerable data indicate that factors other than simple immunosuppression also play a role.
