Report from the 5th IAS Conference on HIV Pathogenesis, Treatment and Prevention

The major summertime HIV conference returned to South Africa this year, marking the first time the meeting has been held in Africa since the World AIDS Conference took place in Durban in 2000. (The World AIDS Conference alternates with the International AIDS Society Conference each year.) Not surprisingly, the focus of the meeting was on treatment of HIV globally, with abundant clinical studies from both resource-limited and resource-rich settings. Summarized below by our physician-editors are the studies with the greatest potential for clinical application. Next year's meeting will take place July 18–23 in Vienna, Austria.
