The DAD study has contributed significantly to our understanding of the long-term consequences of antiretroviral therapy (ART). Previous analyses from this study have shown an increased risk for myocardial infarction (MI) with longer exposure to ART in general and, more specifically, with PI exposure and recent use of ddI and abacavir (JW AIDS Clin Care Apr 25 2007 and Apr 14 2008). In this updated analysis, DAD investigators evaluated the MI risk associated with 13 different antiretrovirals (those for which patients in the cohort had accumulated >30,000 person-years of exposure).
