Human papillomavirus (HPV) infection in the anogenital tract can include a mix of low- and high-risk HPV types. The low-risk types are associated with anogenital condylomata, whereas the high-risk types are associated with high-grade anal intraepithelial neoplasia (AIN) and anal squamous cell cancer. In this retrospective cohort study, investigators report the prevalence of high-grade AIN and anal cancer among 319 men who underwent surgical ablation of anal condylomata. All the men reported having sex with men, and half were HIV-positive.
