Despite huge advances in HIV treatment in the last 2 decades, the annual number of HIV transmissions in the U.S. has remained unchanged in recent years. To better understand why, investigators evaluated risk behaviors and acquisition of sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) among >500 HIV-infected adults in four U.S. cities (79% male; 61% white; 66% men who have sex with men [MSM]). About 70% of the study participants were receiving antiretroviral therapy and had undetectable viral loads.
