Is It Time To Stop Treating Acute Sinusitis?

A clinical trial published this week in JAMA shows that amoxicillin is no better than placebo for treating uncomplicated, acute sinusitis. In his blog HIV and ID Observations, Dr. Paul Sax says the study results are a good reminder that “the human species did survive many eons before the discovery of antibiotics . . . and that furthermore, most of the common community-acquired infections resolve spontaneously.”
