Monitoring the health of HIV-infected patients who are receiving antiretroviral therapy (ART) is a key goal of the U.S. National HIV/AIDS Strategy, but obtaining analyzable, representative data from this population is a challenge. One option may be the North American AIDS Cohort Collaboration on Research and Design (NA-ACCORD), which includes data from more than 100 clinical sites in North America. In the present study, researchers used NA-ACCORD data to evaluate trends in ART use, viral loads, and CD4-cell counts among more than 26,000 HIV-infected patients who received care in the U.S. between 2000 and 2008.
