Background

Updated guidelines for occupational HIV postexposure prophylaxis (PEP) in health care personnel (HCP) have just been released for the first time since 2013. Since the last update, antiretroviral (ARV) medications have become easier to take, with fewer adverse effects, and the new recommendations emphasize these newer agents as well as streamlined testing.
