To identify patients at high risk for adverse outcomes from lower gastrointestinal bleeding (LGIB) or, conversely, those at low risk who could be managed as outpatients, several scores are available, but validation in additional cohorts is scant. In this retrospective study, researchers used diagnostic codes and clinical data to compare performance of 5 prognostic scores (CHAMPS, NOBLADS, Oakland, SALGIB, and Strate) among 2000 adults (median age, 59 years) presenting with acute LGIB at a single academic medical center emergency department in Turkey.
