Comprehensive genomic profiling fundamentally changed cancer therapeutics, giving rise to many biomarker-directed and tumor-agnostic therapies. However, outcomes are mixed. Researchers now report overall-survival (OS) outcomes from the Australian MoST program, which enrolled more than 3000 patients with refractory solid tumors (lacking remaining standard treatment options) who underwent genomic profiling to identify biomarker-directed treatments. The investigators compared outcomes for patients receiving unmatched therapies, well-validated biomarker-matched therapies, or unproven biomarker-matched therapies (repurposed from another tumor type or with only preliminary evidence).
