Many patients with relapsed or refractory multiple myeloma have disease that is refractory to both lenalidomide and anti-CD38 therapy, leaving them with limited treatment options. One promising approach is teclistamab, a bispecific antibody that targets CD3 on T cells and B-cell maturation antigen (BCMA) on myeloma cells.
In this industry-funded, phase 3 trial, nearly 600 patients who had received one to three prior lines of therapy, including an anti-CD38 agent and lenalidomide, were randomized to receive subcutaneous teclistamab or investigator’s choice of either pomalidomide, bortezomib, and dexamethasone, or carfilzomib and dexamethasone. The median follow-up at the time of interim analysis was 17 months.
