Brugada syndrome is characterized by type 1 electrocardiogram changes (J-point elevation ≥2 mm, coved and elevated ST-T segment, and inverted T-waves in leads V1 and V2) and at least one episode of ventricular fibrillation. These authors examined the effect of sodium blockade on endocardial, epicardial, and surface ECG morphology in 19 patients with Brugada syndrome and 3 controls to examine the hypothesis that differences in activation-recovery intervals in the endocardium and epicardium contribute to the ECG abnormalities.
