The Surviving Sepsis Campaign (SSC) guidelines provide specific directions for managing patients with sepsis and septic shock. However, some guideline-recommended therapies have produced negative results in recent studies.
To explore this issue further, researchers examined the outcomes of 2796 adults with severe sepsis or septic shock who were admitted to an ICU at any of 77 hospitals.
