Vaccination is one of the most effective methods of preventing influenza and is cost-effective in reducing hospitalization and mortality. However, vaccination rates remain suboptimal. Most patients who receive influenza vaccination do so in the early fall, but others delay or never receive it at all. In this study, researchers tested whether a mid-November reminder, by either telephone or mail, would boost vaccination rates among those who were not vaccinated earlier in the season.
