Aspergillus species are associated with several clinical syndromes, including invasive pulmonary aspergillosis (IPA), chronic pulmonary aspergillosis (CPA), and allergic bronchopulmonary aspergillosis (ABPA). Triazole antifungals are recommended for these syndromes, but resistance to these agents is increasing. Currently, detection of antifungal resistance requires a positive culture.
