Background and Purpose: The pathogenesis of unstable angina (UA) and non–ST-segment-elevation MI (NSTEMI) is similar to that of ST-segment-elevation MI (STEMI): plaque disruption and decreased coronary blood flow, with or without sufficient ischemia to cause myocardial injury.
