Background and Purpose: This expedited revision of the 2002 Guidelines for the Management of Patients with Chronic Stable Angina (Journal Watch Cardiology Jan 24 2003) focuses on the sections that pertain to secondary prevention and brings them in line with the 2006 ACC/AHA Guidelines for Secondary Prevention for Patients with Coronary and Other Atherosclerotic Vascular Diseases (Journal Watch Cardiology Jun 8 2006). The recommendations in this update reflect recent advances in the understanding and practice of preventing adverse events in patients with atherosclerotic disease.
