Data on the efficacy of statin use for primary prevention of cardiovascular events in older populations are limited. These investigators examined data from the JUPITER trial (JW Cardiol Nov 10 2008) to compare the efficacy and safety of rosuvastatin versus placebo in 5695 adults aged ≥70 (older participants), and in 12,107 adults aged 50 through 69 (younger participants). All participants had normal LDL levels and elevated high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hsCRP) levels.
