Concerns about stent thrombosis, particularly after discontinuation of dual antiplatelet therapy, have limited the use of drug-eluting stents (DESs). To compare the risk for stent thrombosis of second-generation everolimus-eluting stents (EESs) with those of other DESs, investigators conducted a meta-analysis of 13 randomized trials including 17,101 patients. In all studies, dual antiplatelet therapy was administered for 6 to 12 months after stent implantation.
