In some studies, intracoronary infusion of autologous bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMCs) early (generally within 7 days) after acute myocardial infarction (AMI) has improved left ventricular ejection fractions (LVEFs) and regional wall motion. A small study even suggested that this treatment can improve clinical outcomes (JW Cardiol Oct 25 2006).
