As with treatment for congestive heart failure (HF) and acute myocardial infarction, 30-day hospital readmission rates have become a publicly reported quality performance measure for percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). However, the factors associated with 30-day readmission after PCI are not well studied. These investigators used a single-center, prospective registry in Minnesota to identify demographic, clinical, and procedural factors associated with 30-day readmission rates after PCI in 15,498 patients (mean age, 67; 29% women) from January 1998 through June 2008. The primary outcome measures were all-cause 30-day readmission to any hospital and 1-year mortality.
