Lasers are used by physicians and assistants in a variety of specialties, and even in nonmedical spa settings, to treat a variety of cutaneous conditions, both cosmetic and medical. Permanent eye injury is the most severe complication that can occur from laser treatment, making eye protection of paramount importance. In this case report from Germany, a patient with a cheek and periorbital port-wine stain who had undergone 28 pulsed-dye laser (PDL) treatments without complications, but with limited benefit, underwent another PDL treatment of the cheek followed immediately by long-pulsed (755-nm) alexandrite laser treatment of the periorbital and cheek areas.
