Correlation of histologic findings with descriptions of the clinical presentation is important to the routine practice of dermatopathologists, particularly for diagnosing inflammatory skin disorders. Investigators evaluated whether adding digital photography would help dermatopathologists generate specific diagnoses.
Nine independent dermatopathologists used histopathologic images and the usual information on biopsy request slips to make diagnoses of 100 biopsy specimens from patients with inflammatory skin disease, without reference to clinical images.
