Basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) are highly vascularized, and might therefore be amenable to treatments targeting their vasculature. In this pilot study, 20 BCCs on the trunk and extremities underwent four 595-nm pulsed-dye laser (PDL) treatments spaced 3 to 4 weeks apart. Patients were followed for 12 to 21 months after the last treatment. The settings were 15 J/cm2, 3-millisecond pulse duration, 7-mm spot size, single pass, with dynamic cooling of the epidermis. The 20 treated lesions included superficial BCCs (7), nodular (9), superficial and nodular (2), and infiltrative and metatypical (1 each). Diameters ranged from 8 to 35 mm (median, 12 mm).
