Does colorectal cancer screening influence future health behavior? Investigators randomized 13,961 Norwegian adults (age range, 50–55) to receive no screening or one-time flexible sigmoidoscopy, with or without fecal occult blood tests. Study participants were asked to complete lifestyle questionnaires at baseline and 3 years later. The questionnaire assessed smoking status, exercise habits, weight gain, and dietary patterns.
Nearly 3600 patients in the screening group and 3500 in the control group completed questionnaires at both baseline and follow-up.
