Race, Ethnicity, and Polyp History Affect Preference for CT Colonography vs. Colonoscopy

Many studies have been conducted in patients who have undergone both conventional colonoscopy and computed tomography (CT) colonography to determine whether, during repeat screening, they would prefer one procedure over the other. However, fewer data have been collected on how individual patient factors — such as race, ethnicity, and polyp history — might affect patients’ preferences.

For the present study, researchers recruited 272 patients who were scheduled to undergo clinically indicated colonoscopy at a single U.S. center and agreed also to undergo CT colonography on the same day.
