Dr. Perry Pickhardt is the premier computed tomography colonographer in the world, having led the multicenter trial of CT colonography (CTC) that was published in 2003 and that has sustained the procedure during the past 5 years. Several years ago, he joined the faculty at the University of Wisconsin (UW), where the waiting list for screening colonoscopy was notoriously long. That situation was ideally suited to the entrance of competent CTC. In this study, members of the gastroenterology and radiology departments at UW described the effect of Pickhardt’s CTC screening program on colonoscopy volumes.
