Findings of substantial variation in adenoma detection rates among endoscopists (JW Gastroenterol Jan 12 2007) have been a major impetus in the development of quality indicators for colonoscopy performance. To further measure variation in detection rates among endoscopists and identify associated factors, researchers retrospectively analyzed data from screening colonoscopies performed in 2664 patients (mean age, 59; 42% women) by 25 endoscopists in a corporate-based screening program. Each endoscopist performed at least 40 of the screening colonoscopies.
