Studies have shown that the incidence of complicated peptic ulcer disease (PUD) has declined during the last decade in some countries; but, data on changes in incidence of symptomatic uncomplicated PUD are scarce.
To evaluate trends in uncomplicated PUD, investigators conducted a population-based study involving more than 1 million adults (age range, 40–84) who were enrolled in The Health Improvement Network in the U.K. during a 9-year period.
