In a previous European study, capsule endoscopy was 64% sensitive for detecting colon polyps ≥6 mm and 60% sensitive for those ≥10 mm (JW Gastroenterol Jul 17 2009). Since that study, a new version of the colon capsule has become available that increases the angle of view on each end of the capsule (from 156° to 172°) and provides a variable image-capture rate that ranges from 4 frames per second (fps) at rest to 35 fps during motion (vs. a fixed rate of 4 fps in the earlier version).
