Aspirin and paracetamol are often prescribed together for patients who require antiplatelet therapy and analgesia for diseases such as osteoarthritis. Although the gastrotoxicity of aspirin is well established, whether a combination of paracetamol and aspirin produces gastric mucosal damage is unclear.
To address this issue, investigators in an industry-sponsored study randomized 63 healthy adults with normal transnasal endoscopic findings to receive aspirin alone (325 mg/day), paracetamol alone (4000 mg/day), or both.
