Othello syndrome (OS), or delusional jealousy, entails a delusion of the infidelity of one’s partner. OS has been most widely reported to occur with alcoholism (in men); with schizophrenia; after right-hemisphere brain lesions; and in dementias, including Alzheimer disease, vascular dementia, and dementia with Lewy bodies. Only a few case reports document OS in nondemented individuals with Parkinson disease (PD) receiving dopaminergic medications; in these patients, the delusions resolved after medication withdrawal.
