Paraneoplastic neurological syndromes (PNSs) are a heterogeneous group of cancer-associated, immune-mediated disorders of the nervous system. Most patients with PNS have abnormal findings in studies of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF). However, no large series have been studied to describe the frequency of CSF abnormalities, their association with clinical features, and their evolution in patients with PNSs. To address this need, researchers identified 295 patients in their database who had a definite PNS associated with well-characterized antineuronal antibodies and for whom clinical and CSF studies were available.
