New daily-persistent headache (NDPH), one of the most refractory primary headaches, has been defined variably. International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD)-2 criteria require abrupt onset of chronic tension-type headache; others propose abrupt onset of daily headache of any phenotype. This study was a retrospective chart review comparing 31 patients meeting NDPH–ICHD-2 criteria and 40 patients who would have met criteria except for having too many migraine features (NDPH-mf).
