Although surgical revascularization is often employed as a treatment for patients with moyamoya, reliable predictors of outcome and appropriate timing of intervention remain uncertain. These authors performed a retrospective review of the management of moyamoya in children at a single institution, specifically focusing on the identification of independent prognostic factors that influence outcome following surgery.
From 1988 to 2006, 410 children (younger than 18 years) underwent 845 indirect revascularization procedures.
