Biomarkers — including cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) protein measures, volumetric brain imaging, and genetic testing — have been the focus of a growing body of research in neurodegenerative illnesses, such as Alzheimer disease (AD). Biomarkers have considerable potential for use in therapeutic trials and in so-called preclinical diagnosis.
