When a patient develops neurological symptoms after infection or vaccination, providing a definitive diagnosis or advice about prognosis is difficult. In a prospective cohort study, investigators categorized postinfectious neurological syndromes (PINS), described patients' signs and symptoms within these categories, compared the categories to one another and to MS, and evaluated potential prognostic factors.
