Investigators have associated two single-nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs) of the corticotropin-releasing hormone receptor 1 gene (CRHR1) with heavy and lifetime drinking in adults and adolescents. In this prospective, longitudinal study, the same research group examines the role of life events in 280 adolescents (135 males) studied since birth in the Mannheim Study of Children at Risk.
At this assessment, the children were age 15; only singleton children who were firstborn were included, and all had been genotyped for the two CRHR1 SNPs.
