To investigate links between personality traits and overall health or mortality, researchers have used various personality measures and reported inconsistent findings; many of these studies were small or were conducted over relatively few years. Now, researchers report findings from the first prospective study of the five-factor inventory of personality traits (NEO-FFI) and all-cause mortality in a general adult population.
NEO-FFI is an empirically validated system for assessing personality dimensions.
