With the increased number of psychiatric treatment guidelines, it is nice to have a reference that reviews the various guidelines and develops a consensus. A work group from the International Society for Bipolar Disorders has recently provided this service for monitoring for severe adverse drug reactions in patients taking mood stabilizers, including anticonvulsants and atypical antipsychotics.
The work group compared relevant guidelines from multiple organizations (e.g., the American Psychiatric Association, Canadian Network for Mood and Anxiety Treatments, and the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence).
