Hysterectomy is commonly performed when medical therapy fails for so-called dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB). As a simpler, less costly alternative to hysterectomy, surgical ablation of the endometrium has become more viable with the recent development of new approaches. In this multicenter randomized trial, researchers compared these procedures in 225 premenopausal women (85% younger than 45) who underwent total hysterectomy or endometrial ablation for treatment of DUB.
