Aspirin and clopidogrel commonly are prescribed together for patients who undergo coronary stenting. But, how many patients are resistant to one or both agents, and what does such resistance mean, clinically? In this reanalysis of a prospective study of patients who underwent drug-eluting stent (DES) placement, investigators determined platelet reactivity (as measured by light transmittance aggregometry to a variety of stimuli) in 746 patients who received dual antiplatelet therapy; reactivity was then linked to the rate of probable or definite DES thrombosis at 6 months.
