How useful are measures of adiposity in predicting risk for cardiovascular disease? To address this question, investigators combined patient-level data from 58 cohort studies that involved 222,000 adults in 17 countries with no previously identified vascular disease; the studies provided baseline data on adiposity measures and outcome data on cardiovascular disease.
