A pocket mobile echocardiography device that weighs only 14 ounces and measures approximately 5”×3”×1” is available commercially. To evaluate the diagnostic performance of such devices, researchers collected data on 97 inpatients and outpatients who underwent both traditional transthoracic echocardiography (TTE) and mobile-device echocardiography. Experienced ultrasonographers obtained the images; cardiologists or cardiology fellows, blinded to the TTE results, read the mobile echocardiograms.
