Many screening-detected or incidentally discovered prostate cancers will never cause morbidity or death. Nevertheless, most patients with low-risk prostate cancer undergo radical prostatectomy or radiation therapy, and few are observed without treatment (so-called watchful waiting or active surveillance). In this study from three Harvard-affiliated hospitals, researchers examined whether multidisciplinary care affected choice of treatment for 700 men with low-risk localized prostate cancer.
